OMG look! Four consecutive days!  Spoiler alert: that’s not happening this week.
And I guess my only explanation for any of them will be the last one… it’s a rough visual from a story I’m working on.

Missing one day.  No secret messages this time; at least none that include UV light.

It’s interesting to see three days of tiredness and pretty much exhaustion, and then see what represented happiness just after.  Just to cap it off.

A few weeks ago I was visiting one of my favorite little card shops, Paper Doll over in Wicker Park.  I was looking for a calendar for Lovely and my new apartment, but ended up finding some journals instead.  One of them, was a surprisingly simple concept, but has turned into a gem.

One Sketch A Day.  Simple.  Seems easy enough.  I just have to doodle once a day, and by the end of the year I’ll have a pretty interesting collection.

Um, trying to think of ONE sketch for the whole day isn’t that easy.  Hell, sometimes just thinking up anything to draw out is hard.  I’ve typically wanted the sketch to represent some aspect of the day, if possible.  Whether it’s how I’m feeling, something I did… I just want to be able to look back and have it spark memories of something.  Not every day has some big event though, so it’s drawing the small things.  Or just doodling for the hell of it…

Anyway.  I’m going to be drawing for 365 days.  Hopefully most of that will be consecutive.  It’s been a fun and rewarding journey thus far — only 13 days in.  I really want to encourage you to try this too.  I won’t be posting photos of this daily, but rather in sets of 4, at least once a week.  If you want to post daily, go for it.  But leave me a little note if you want to join me.  I’ll update this later with a little badge, because Hey, badges are fun.  Then once you start posting them, send me a link to the parent tag or category (that way when people click on it, they’ll be able to see all of your work).

I love the idea of doing something creative every day.  It’s been a goal of mine.  For these first 365 days, it’ll be sketching.  Who knows where it’ll move next.
