from potential to reality: or why I don't have pink hair any more…

22 September 2010

Sorry for all the secrecy, but I didn’t want to say anything until it was actually official.  And as of yesterday afternoon, it is.

Come September 30th, I will no longer be working for the Toy Store.  It’s been a good run, with it’s ups and down.  And frankly, things were turning around towards something pretty good.  But, a new opportunity has presented itself, and I had to see where that would take me.

A few weeks ago I was contacted by a Marketing Director, stating that he thought I’d be a great fit for this job opening at his company (after finding me via my blog of all places).  Emails were exchanged.  We met informally.  One week ago today I made the commute for a formal interview.  On Monday they made an offer, and yesterday I couldn’t refuse it.

You’re looking at the new Marketing Assistant.  After I return from my vacation, on October 11th, I’ll start this new journey.  My main focus is in graphic design.  I’m pretty excited about it.  I’ll have a long commute, but this is a good opportunity for me.  Even if it means I had to color over my pink highlights… and that they might have to wait a while before making their return.

So that, my friends, is what I’ve been all hush-hush about.  I guess this is also a lesson in what your blog can do for you!  (No, I’m still surprised by that one.)

  • Ooooh that’s very exciting congratulations

    • Erini

Thanks! 🙂 I’m really excited about it.

  • Congratulations!!

    • Erini

      Thanks Molly!

  • Congrats on the gig!

      Thank you Pham!

  • That is great Erini! You truly deserve it.

Thanks BZ! I still think LSB needs more ladies… 😉

  • CONGRATULATIONS! I’m actually pleased to hear it took a few days before you got an offer. I had an interview friday and I’m still waiting to hear back! don’t owrry about the commute. Sometimes it’s worth it if it means it will advance you in your career…

and hey, i found my husband through my blog–maybe i can get a job that way too!

    • Erini

Thanks Erika!!! It definitely took a few days, and actually I thought it would have taken at least a full week. I’ve got my fingers crossed for you!

I definitely think more people should have “hire me” pages! Having a portfolio online, letting people know about you and your skills… it never hurts to have that out there. I wasn’t actively looking for a job. I’d applied to a few some friends found for me, but I wasn’t seriously looking. This job found me. Again, got my fingers crossed for you! 🙂
