I am not a slut. I am not a feminazi. I am a human.

18 March 2012

I try not to get too political on here. But… It’s getting to the point now, when ready the news that it actually makes me not only thoroughly depressed because I am a woman, but terribly worried for my younger sisters and my niece and the future of every other girl in our country.

There’s a good article, or rather, a very sad and depressing one on Huffington Post describes this “new” plight of the modern woman. It’s incredibly depressing and demoralizing.

Worst off, some people don’t see how wrong this all is. Women who stand up for themselves are deemed as sluts, whores, and feminazis. Let’s get one thing straight: I am a human, and I happen to be a female. I made no choice in my gender, neither did my parents. I should not be penalized because of my gender, nor should my gender be seen as a bad thing. I’m proud to be a woman. Yeah, I might have a uterine disease, but I’ve done pretty damn well at not letting that hold me back.

I am a woman and I have these human rights:

The right to life.
The right to privacy.
The right to freedom.
The right to bodily integrity.
The right to decide when and how I reproduce.”

As humans, we need to stand up together. It’s sad that we have digressed so far as nation. It’s sad that we’re still talking about women’s rights. It’s hard to support a nation in which I’m considered to be on the same level as livestock.

  • This is one of those issues that I find myself being completely infuriated about daily…. I can hardly believe it’s gotten this way….
