So the thing with No Spend challenges, you’re not supposed to spend your money…

26 July 2014

So my “No Spend” week is up. And, well… I failed.

No Spend Week

It’s not a huge deal. I started with $125 to last me 3 weeks. And now? After I set aside what I need for rent… I’ll have maybe $45 until the 8th.

So what happened?

Well, I spent about $22 dollars on treats for my assistant’s birthday — including buying lunch for both her and myself. I do not feel guilty about this at all. She is absolutely amazing and I could not imagine having a better assistant. She totally deserves so much more than I could ever give her. (Seriously, having an assistant is the best. And having an amazing and competent one is like, beyond describable.)

What really killed by bank account was an automatic bill payment. My electric bill. It was nearly $50, which I can only blame on the air conditioner and fans that run non-stop. Sadly, it’s my own fault I didn’t realize I’d be owing this amount at the end of the month. I received the bill in the mail, I checked the date. And then I promptly forgot about it. doh.

So for the rest of the 2 weeks until I finally get an unencumbered paycheck, it’s going to be a lot of budgeting. Transit fees and cat food will take priority. Sort of frustrating to be in this position yet again. But well, I’ll make it through. But it definitely makes me wish my knee was in better shape so I could save some money and just walk the four miles home from work.

Fun times, guys. Fun times.

  • I think that was $22 well spent. There’s nothing like doing something nice for someone else and I’m sure your assistant really appreciated it. Good luck budgeting for the next two weeks. I think you can make it! (Says the girl with $2.19 in her checking account right now.)

Thanks Jenn! 🙂 I think if I time everything out… and really plan my transit out well, I think I can do it.
